My younger brother has a small collection of Courier and Ives lithographs from their “Men of the Day” series. They were discarded décor from a bar he renovated. In one of it’s previous lives, this bar had been The City Club, a private men’s club frequented by the captains of business and the wealthy. Such clubs have pretty much disappeared from the Canadian landscape, though they probably still persist in places like New York City, and of course, Stepford.
According to feminist mythology, these were the halls of power which brokered women’s oppression. It is interesting to note that in the reprise of the movie The Stepford Wives, that concept had to be treated as a joke. If you key in the words “conspiracy theory” in the Google search engine, you will find all sorts of things that are good for a laugh. There is a fellow who writes a very funny satire blog in which he mocks the style of the other conspiracy theory writers and blames everything from cancer to crop failure to nine eleven on the freemasons. They were another gang of “the usual suspects” that feminists referred to as “the old boys”. Once a very powerful and influential organization,( at least according to the satire of Homer Simpson “Who controls the English Crown? WE DO!! Who keeps the metric system down? WE DO!!”) it has all but sputtered out at a rate even faster than certain church denominations. Just up the road from where I live is an old country church which was taken over by the local masons and they are down to about a dozen members, the youngest in his fifties. One of my workmates was fast tracked into the Shrine in three years, something unheard of when I was young. Of all men’s clubs and associations, the only one that I am aware of being successful in recruiting new young members is the Knights of Columbus.
So my question is, who or what exactly is the patriarchy? What are their names? Where do they meet? What political authority do they hold? I humbly suggest that they are an urban myth. If you disagree, name me their names.
Hugo belongs to an organization called Men Can Stop Rape. It would appear that this group is directly opposed to two previously existing groups, one being Men Who Figure Rape Must Be Ok (who have a website at):
I know from experience though, that about twice a year, at the weekly meetings of the Stepford Men’s Association after we have attended to the business of deciding who’s pain in the ass wife we are going to replace with a robot, some young Turk will put a motion on the floor like;
“Let it be resolved that rape is OK.”
But it always gets voted down I mean Jeez….sure we misogynist sons of “bees” with an itch” do sit up late at these bastions of phallocracy giving ourselves migraine headaches trying to dream up new and innovative ways to make women miserable, but at the same time we have daughters, sisters, significant others, friends, colleagues and various and other sorts of females who we would rather not live in fear of being raped. So we vote it down.
Now what was this brilliant strategy set forth by Men Against Rape? Oh, I see, we let the other two groups of Neanderthals know that we don’t think rape is very nice. That is simply brilliant. Wonder why it never occurred to anyone else.
As you read this Ken Wiebe is sorting through a box of material that he obtained, on my suggestion, from SOW Canada through a process called ATIPP (Access to Information and Privacy Protection). The principal of the legislation is simple and clear, if you are Canadian, if the government of Canada has gathered information or opinions on you, you are entitled to know what that information is so that you can set the record straight. Guess what? Powerful political and money brokers do not seem to be the targets of this campaign to overthrow “patriarchs”. The content of “Who’s Who” has not changed as a result of feminism. Oh for certain their have been more female mandarin appointments, there have been some shining star female entrepreneurs, but none of the “old boys” have been affected by all of this other than to perhaps pass on their wealth and privilege (nepotism) to a daughter rather than a son.
So as Ken Wiebe looks through this documentation, who are the enemies of feminism in Canada according to SOW? Why us of course, MRA’s. Now does it not seem just a tad absurd that if men such as we actually had any sort of power or privilege over feminists that we would not have invoked it?
I am going to make a suggestion to all Canadian MRA readers of this blog. If you are tired of this nonsense. If you are fed up of being on the defensive. If you would like to take this fight to where the feminazis live and put THEM on the defensive, I have a plan.
First familiarize yourself with the process of requesting information through ATIPP, if you express an interest I will tell you how, it is simple and only costs $5.00 cdn. Next, if you post comments on any MRA forum, ask if that forum has ever been the subject of any SOW scrutiny. When you get the documents for that, submit another ATIPP form requesting the internet log activity of any SOW employee named in the first inquiry. After that, complain bitterly about your rights of political dissent being so blatantly trod upon to the Minister of Heritage, Senator Anne Cools, the prime minister, and to your own MP and to all of their counterparts in the opposition parties.
